What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Kitchen Helper position at State College Area School District?
The State College Area School District is seeking to hire motivated, friendly people to work in the school kitchens. The positions available at this time are for staff who float between kitchens and are assigned to work where needed. Floaters work every day of the school calendar. 3.5 to 4.5 hour shifts are assigned each day between the hours of 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM.
Floaters have the opportunity to be assigned to a single location when positions open up over the course of the school year.
The starting rate of pay is $17.45 per hour.
Work includes preparation, service, and cleaning to provide meals at school to students. Ideal candidates are able to, at a minimum, read and write English, do simple arithmetic, and follow oral and written instructions. They must have a general understanding and appreciation for food safety and must be customer service oriented. Work in the school kitchens is fast paced and physical. The job requires employees to be standing or walking the entire work shift. Work requires twisting, pushing, and pulling, with regular lifting of 10-20 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
