Purpose

Provide support to other members of the Loan Analytics and Reporting staff and management in carrying out the department’s mission of providing reliable and accurate data, analyses, and forecasts of SECU’s loan portfolios across the enterprise and to regulatory agencies.

The Loan Analytics and Reporting Specialist will work to ensure branches, departments within Loan Administration, and other operations areas are provided with reports and data necessary to ensure efficient day-to-day operations and superb member service.

Duties

Participate as an active team player in all projects, team meetings, and training sessions.

Maintain current knowledge of SECU lending policies and procedures.

Continuously expand upon knowledge of and familiarity with all loan origination systems, loan servicing systems, and databases used within Loan Administration and supported by Loan Administration for branches and other operations departments.

Understand Cross Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) and apply this process to analytics projects.

Assist operations departments with report writing, data collection, and analysis as directed by management.

Perform routine extracts of data from core systems (both mainframe and distributed databases) and generate reports and basic analyses using this data.

Be able to identify erroneous data from core systems and be able to make sufficient modifications to reporting and analysis programs to account for these anomalies.

Perform modeling and forecasting on various aspects of loan portfolios including delinquency, default, and new loan origination using validated statical methodologies.

Requirements

Must have four year degree, or CCUE Certification, or Associate in Arts degree or Associate in Science degree via the North Carolina College Transfer Program (NC-CTP).

An educational background in computer science, business, or mathematics is preferred, but deference will be given to requisite practical experience and interest in programming and statistical analysis in lieu of formal educational background.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, is required.  Experience will be expanded with on-the-job training and usage.

Proficiency with using R / RStudio or Python.  Experience will be expanded with on-the-job training and usage.

Proficiency in the use of the Enterprise Data Warehouse to create reports, analyses, and data extracts.

Proficiency with computers, software, and mainframe applications or programming is a plus.

Knowledge of technical aspects of the loan origination and servicing systems utilized at SECU.  This skillset will continue to be developed by practical, on-the-job experience.

Must be willing to cooperate and participate in a group setting and on an individual basis with projects, including giving and receiving constructive feedback.

Ability to work and communicate well with technical professionals across the enterprise is required.

Must have ability to present ideas and the results of various analytical reports and statistical analyses orally and in writing.

Must have a high level of technical aptitude.

Must be self-motivated and not require daily supervision.  Must be well organized, detail oriented, and be able to prioritize tasks to ensure organizational goals are met.

Must be able to speak English fluently.

Must be able to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers.

Must be cordial in all interactions with members and co-workers.

Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policies established by the Credit Union.

Job Environment

Hybrid in-office and work from home schedule. In-office setting that has physical proximity to other employees. Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone. Work from home requires quiet, private working environment free from noise and disruption in order to maintain a professional at home working arrangement.

Physical Demands

Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.

Job requires a substantial amount of sitting.

Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information.

Use hands and fingers to press telephone keypad and lift telephone receiver.

Must be able to comprehend phone calls.

Must be able to lift 5 pounds.
