JOB GRADE: 9: $43,888.00 - $54,012.42 annually
JOB SUMMARY:
The Loan Officer I is responsible for assisting credit union members with their lending needs by evaluating loan applications, providing financial guidance, and ensuring compliance with all applicable lending policies, procedures, and practices. This role requires excellent communication, customer service, and analytical skills to properly assess borrowers' creditworthiness and recommend suitable loan products that are within credit union risk ratings and guidelines. This further includes the underwriting of approved member loans.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have 2 years previous loan approval experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
Must have knowledge of office machines and equipment and be able to type.
Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the members and general public.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Interview loan applicants and assist members with the loan application process by telephone and/or in person.
Obtain and evaluate credit bureau reports on applicants.
Pull credit reports for all accounts, verify debt, estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debt not listed and add them to debts on application.
Make sound and sensible decisions through good judgment of credit history, debt ratio percentage, loan to value percentage and loan request circumstance.
Approve or deny loan applications and explain reasons for denial.
Ensure that each loan is processed accurately and timely as set forth by loan manager.
Prepare loan application and document packet for closing and facilitation of loan closing.
Understand compliance issues and attends training as they relate to the position.
Performs all other assigned duties.
