Position Title: Loan Processing Supervisor

REPORTS TO: AVP/Consumer Lending

SUPERVISES: Loan Processors

JOB STATUS: Exempt

JOB GRADE 10: $48,531.38 thru $60,664.23 Targeted Salary Rate

JOB SUMMARY:

This employee oversees the daily operations of the centralized loan processing team, ensuring efficient workflow, regulatory and policy compliance, and exceptional member service. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. The Centralized Loan Processing Supervisor serves as the key liaison between loan processors, loan officers, branch staff, and other departments to ensure timely and accurate loan processing.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor the centralized loan processing team by providing guidance and support.
  • Oversee the activities of the centralized loan processing team by assigning work, answering questions, solving problems, helping with complex transactions and sensitive member issues, and explaining policies and procedures to employees.
  • Train and cross-train staff in all phases of their particular job to ensure loan quality and member service standards meet or exceed requirements. Has overall responsibility for the development of the loan processing team and loan processing activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated inquiries from members, dealerships, or internal departments regarding loan processing issues.
  • Work collaboratively with underwriters, loan officers, and dealerships to resolve application discrepancies or delays.
  • Promote a member-first approach by ensuring exceptional service delivery across the loan processing team.
  • Understand and comply with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements including but not limited to: BSA, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, CIP, Member Due Diligence, Reg P, Reg J, Truth in Lending Act, and Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all loan documentation, procedures, and verifications needed for loans, including title work, payroll allocations, auto transfers, loan coupons, and more.
  • Ensure each loan is processed accurately and timely as set forth by the applicable lending policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and recommend actions for skill enhancement career growth, and achievement of organizational and departmental goals.
  • Monitor the overall workflow of loan processing to ensure compliance with credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve complex or escalated loan applications, ensuring adherence to underwriting and funding standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize loan processing efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Establish and maintain quality control processes to ensure loan files meet regulatory and credit union standards.
  • In coordination with management, develop and analyze reports on loan processing metrics, such as turnaround times, error rates, and compliance adherence.
  • Conduct periodic audits of loan files to identify and address gaps in compliance or documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of consumer and indirect loan processing, including regulatory requirements.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to present information in an approachable manner both oral and written.
  • Strong math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to speak, write and understand English. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive member information securely.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the members and general public.
  • Those in a leadership role are expected to participate in company meetings, community events, and similar engagements as ambassadors to the organization and its mission. These include voluntary and involuntary events that although ordinarily will be during business hours, does include weekends and evenings as announced.
  • Job Related Travel - As required.

Education/Experience:

  • Education or job experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a related field, in addition to progressively responsible job experience. Minimum of 12 months experience in loan processing.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Some standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, bending and lifting.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate credit union facilities.
