Position Title: AgriBusiness Seasonal Assistant/Intern

Reports To: Senior AgriBusiness Team Members

Classification: Seasonal, Hourly
Pay Range: $12 - $14/hr (dependent upon experience)
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with horse shows, livestock shows, and agricultural exhibit halls, plus creating, preparing and executing several agriculture-related competitions and events, all in conjunction with the State Fair.
- Serve as staff liaison, answering questions from potential participants, staff, officials and the public.
- Assist with correspondence and communication, updating database and data entry for show entries, as well as processing and inputting results during the Fair.
- Assist with administrative duties such as labeling packets, filing and creating documents, sorting supplies, and distributing credentials and materials.
- Serve as staff assistant during the Fair, processing competition entry forms, reports and other necessary forms as required for each event and each day of the Fair.
- Assist in the preparation of competition sites, arrangement and distribution of awards, processing results and tabulation. Responsibilities may require physical and manual labor.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft software, especially Word, and Excel.
- A basic knowledge of the livestock industry and competition requirements/protocol is preferred.
- Must be comfortable and knowledgeable with regard to working around animals.
- Interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills required.
- Previous customer service and personnel management experience preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Extended hours, nights and weekends may be required during peak periods.
- Frequent or continual movement from place to place with normal physical mobility, covering long distances with ease, managing assigned tasks throughout various indoor and outdoor locations within and around the property and in potentially inclement/severe weather conditions.
- Regularly lift, carry and put away items weighing up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry heavier items and/or assist others in lifting heavier objects, as job demands.
- Walk and/or stand for extended periods in addition to other prolonged physical exertions including seeing, hearing, reaching, grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, crouching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas may be required.
Additional Information – Work Schedule
- Hours are flexible prior to and immediately after the Fair. However, the assistant must commit to working 40 hrs/week from September 7 – 21 and must be available to work extensive hours days, evenings, and weekends during the Fair.
April 7 – September 27, 2025 (DATES & TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE)
PRE-FAIR HOURS
April: Flexible, part-time hours (15-25 hrs/week)
May – August 8: Flexible, full-time hours (40 hrs/week); weekend hours as needed/possible.
FAIR HOURS
August 9 – September 21: Full-time to over-time hours (40 – 60 hrs/week)
POST FAIR HOURS
September 22 – 27: Flexible, part-time to full-time hours (20 – 40 hrs/week)
