Position Title: Special Events & Programs Seasonal Assistant/Intern
Department: 2025 Oklahoma State Fair
Reports To: Special Events & Programs Manager
Supervises: N/A
Classification: Seasonal, Hourly
Pay Range: $12 - $14/hr (dependent upon experience)
Job Responsibilities
- Assist the Special Programs and Events Manager with all duties including but not limited to the following:
- Support the Special Programs and Events Department during the Fair.
- Assist with execution of all Volunteer events.
- Develop and distribute credentials, mailings, badges, etc. using mail merge.
- Attend and take meeting notes for all meetings related to events and volunteers.
- Schedule Bandshell Stage during the Oklahoma State Fair.
- Assist performers with the application process for the Bandshell.
- Input and manage data for the Bandshell Stage and Oklahoma State Fair Band Day competition.
- Field questions and/or resolve problems via phone and in-person.
- Assist with various area set ups and tear downs for the Fair.
- Assist with all special events during the Oklahoma State Fair.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Requirements
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Self-motivated and detailed oriented with the ability to complete assignments with accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal or no supervision.
- Extensive experience of Microsoft software, specifically Word and Excel.
- Knowledge in Adobe products, such as InDesign and Photoshop Elements, preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge in Canva.
- Ability to learn industry specific programs.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Extended hours, nights and weekends may be required during peak periods.
- Frequent or continual movement from place to place with normal physical mobility, covering long distances with ease, managing assigned tasks throughout various indoor and outdoor locations within and around the property and in potentially inclement/severe weather conditions.
- Regularly lift, carry and put away items weighing up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry heavier items and/or assist others in lifting heavier objects, as job demands.
- Walk and/or stand for extended periods in addition to other prolonged physical exertions including seeing, hearing, reaching, grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, crouching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions and tight areas may be required.
Additional Information – Work Schedule
- Flexible daytime hours can be arranged through the end of April, at which time the position becomes full-time. Those who take this job MUST be able to work 7 days a week from September 1 – October 1.

PRE-FAIR HOURS
April 7 – 25, 3 weeks, 10-20 hrs/week
April 28 – August 29, 17 weeks, 40 hrs/week
FAIR HOURS
September 1 – September 26, 4 weeks, 50 hrs/week
*Daily hours vary based on event volume
POST FAIR HOURS
September 29 – October 17, 4 weeks, 40 hrs/week

This will be a temporary, part-time and hourly position for employment encompassing the 2025 Oklahoma State Fair, September 11-21. No other benefits, except those required by law, apply. Applications will continue to be accepted until positions have been filled.
