Financial & Regulatory Reporting is seeking driven professionals to join our team! As an Accountant in Financial Operations, you'll have the unique opportunity to shape and support decision-making throughout the enterprise through insightful financial analysis and reporting. You'll serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to executive leadership, collaborating with various teams across State Farm to drive key enterprise priorities. Incumbency: This position will have a 12-month incumbency period for a lateral move and a 6-month incumbency period for a promotional opportunity (beginning on the effective date of the position) which must be met before the employee can post for any other State Farm position. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment contract, nor contractual rights.

Responsibilities
As an Accountant, your key responsibilities could include (but are not limited to):
- Preparing and supporting monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports for Property & Casualty, Life, Investment Management/Brokerage and other affiliates.
- Researching accounting guidance and appropriately applying to our financial reporting.
- Maintaining proper operation of internal controls.
- Delivering timely financial analysis and explaining complex topics clearly to help the audience make informed decisions.
- Collaborating across Financial Operations and the Enterprise to develop ad hoc and routine analysis to enable informed decision-making. This includes analysis of results, proactive identification of trends, and impact analysis on changes affecting trends.
- Serving as a strategic thought partner for leadership and business areas and offering insights on Enterprise financial and growth results.
- Representing Financial Operations on projects and initiatives across the Enterprise.
Candidates applying for this position should have the following skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
- CPA designation preferred
- Understanding of core accounting principles and financial statements
- Broad business and financial acumen
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to work with all levels of leadership
- Learning agility and adaptability to work across multiple teams
- A high degree of internal motivation, initiative, and curiosity
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Ability to lead and/or represent Financial Operations on projects and initiatives
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including utilization of advanced formulas and report automation techniques. Prior experience with SAS and Workiva is preferred
- Insurance and/or financial services experience preferred

- Potential starting salary range: $63,000 - $105,000
- Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
- High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
- Potential yearly incentive pay up to 10% of base salary
