As a Claim Specialist in our Hail Claims Catastrophe Services (HCCS) In Office department or as a Claims Specialist in our Weather Catastrophe Claims Services (WCCS) you will be part of a team dedicated to delivering the State Farm promise to our customers when a natural weather event or catastrophe has occurred. You will play an instrumental role in helping our customers recover from the unexpected!
In this role, you will consistently deliver a remarkable customer experience through handling claims. On a daily basis you will resolves a large volume of claims in an in office environment through investigation, evaluation, negotiation, verification of coverage, legal liability and extent of damage to property which may require contact by telephone, written correspondence, or various electronic media. Your investigation may include some of the following:
- Assist agents in the resolution of claims
- Prepare and/or review property estimates and contents estimates in loss settlements
- Examines claims submitted by insured and/or third parties, or such claims referred from other claim units, to determine whether additional or specialized investigation is necessary for claim resolution
- Applies knowledge of state and federal laws, statutes and insurance regulations in claim handling
- Utilizes appropriate job aids, expertise and tools to accurately and consistently handle claims according to standard claim processes
- Reconciles submitted estimates with State Farm estimate on property damage losses and issues replacement cost benefits payments
- With the assistance of the policyholder phone scopes/secures inventory of damaged personal property and enters into contents estimating platform and issues claim settlement payment
- Documenting the claim file according to the file documentation workflow and standard claim processes

- Ability to apply policy, law, and regulations to ensure proper resolution of claims

Additional Details:
- Fulfills state licensing and continuing education requirements, as applicable
- Must maintain a valid license to lawfully operate vehicles as directed/requested by State Farm
- Job may require travel overnight via commercial transportation and/or driving motor vehicles to any office locations where the company does business, or other locations to conduct/attend training, conferences, meetings and or seminars
- May be required to work additional hours, overtime hours, or non-standard hours, including varying work shifts, nights, weekends and holidays, based on workload and as the operation dictates
Preferred/Desired Skills, Education, Knowledge, Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Relevant property / homeowners’ claims experience and/or construction experience preferred
What You Can Expect
Pay Rate: $46,345.00 annually
Anticipated Start Date: 1/6/2020
Hours of Operation: The anticipated hours of operation will be 7:00am-7:00pm Monday -Saturday. Employees will work in a shift environment and may be required to work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays with potentially regularly scheduled Saturdays, Sundays, and non-consecutive days off, based on workload, job requirements and assigned shift. Employees' work schedules may change on a six month basis or as business need dictates.
Required Training: You will be required to attend all training necessary for this position as dictated by the department. 10-12 weeks of paid training in a classroom environment is provided.
Licensing (if applicable): Successful candidates selected for this position will receive a job offer stating that continued employment as a State Farm Claim Specialist is contingent upon meeting the requirements necessary to obtain appropriate state(s) mandated licenses. This includes successfully completing all applicable licensing exam(s), and background checks required of various state(s). Failure to do so may result in termination.
Additionally, there may be some initial out-of-pocket expenses for licensing registration that you will be asked to pay during your first week of employment. State Farm will reimburse these expenses within 5-7 business days of your expense reimbursement request. You will also complete a P&C Licensing Agreement as part of your onboarding.
Telephone Monitoring: positions are subject to telephone monitoring and/or recording for quality assurance and training purposes. You will be required to sign the
Acknowledgement and Consent to Telephone monitoring and Recording Form on your start date.
