This Division Controller directs financial analysis, budget, cost controls and reporting for State Cleaning Solutions a division of State Industrial Products. Additionally works with Customer Service, Collections and Information Technology Teams. Key management team member in meeting growth and profitability objectives by:
- Providing strategic and tactical interpretation of key business measurements.
- Translating measurements and analyses into sound financial decisions.
- Identify and analyze operational and spending variances.
- Generates divisional financial reporting including monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
- Develop tools and templates to facilitate the development of effective divisional sales plans and budgets. Identifies growth opportunities as indicated by positive trends. Identifies deviations from plan and participates in identifying solutions to correct negative performance. Prepares all daily, monthly, annual financial reporting.
- Analyze operational variance accounts.
- Monitor departmental spending vs. forecast/budget and conformance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Prepare performance reports, analysis and direction in support of divisional goals and objectives. Identify and track key indicators to measure and monitor strategic and tactical plans relating to product, promotion and pricing performance.
- Analyze gross margins to determine the impact of changes in pricing and product mix and the effect on divisional profitability. Participates in identifying and evaluating various business options, quantifying the financial impacts of these approaches and selecting the most favorable course of action to maximize growth and profitability objectives.
- Business case analysis: Designs, implements and presents recommendations for project-based analyses as needed. Examples of analytical projects are compensation plan modeling and testing, new customer acquisition offers, customer database assessment and measurement, marketing and new product introduction results, and analysis of sales associate coaching efforts. This work is to be performed in conjunction with the IT Department.
- Develop detailed analyses necessary to support tactical and strategic decisions covering all aspects of the business as requested and/or appropriate.
- Work with Sales representatives and Managers on quotes and bid opportunities. Develop proposals designed to meet Company sales and profit targets for long-term and /or high-volume pricing agreements with customers.
- Work in tandem with the Marketing Department to manage inventory. Develop analyses of product demand vs. carrying cost to identify products that are unprofitable.
- Identify high-cost products and work with Marketing, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Cost Accounting to improve costs. Work with Cost Accounting to achieve consistency in product costing methods.
- Ensure that agreements with vendors meet Company guidelines.
- Instill cost control disciplines throughout the division.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor degree in finance, business or statistics
- SAP, Outlook, MS Office, Excell & Access experience
- Analytical
- Detail oriented
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
