American Sign Language Interpreter located in Anchorage!

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
This position is based in the Anchorage office, which typically has around 10 employees, and serves consumers directly from this location. You'll have significant autonomy in managing your schedule and workflow, with the office operating during regular business hours (8am - 5pm) and offering flexibility, including occasional telework.
Who We Are Looking For:
We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:
- Foreign Language: Knowledge of sign language or of the structure and content of a foreign (non-English) language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Listening: Receives, attends to, interprets, and responds to verbal messages and other cues such as body language in ways that are appropriate to listeners and situations.
- Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications
Certification as an American Sign Language Interpreter by either the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf or the National Association of the Deaf.
OR
A bachelor's degree in American Sign Language Interpreting from an accredited college
AND
one year (2000 hours) of full-time paid experience as an ASL interpreter.
OR
An associate's degree in American Sign Language Interpreting from an accredited college
AND
two years (4000 hours) of full-time paid experience as an ASL interpreter.
OR
Four years (8000 hours) of full-time paid experience as an ASL interpreter.

Frequent travel may be required.

It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
