The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Civil Rights Office is looking for a Civil Rights Programs & Compliance Specialist 1 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!


What you will be doing:

This position assists with the implementation of the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Support Services and On-the-Job Training (OJT) Services Programs for Alaska. The incumbent provides a high degree of outreach administrative support, event planning and marketing in support of these programs.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located at 2200 East 42nd Avenue in the Annex Building in Anchorage. The building is located at the intersection of Lake Otis & Tudor. It is a shared office with another member of the Civil Rights Office team. Work is primarily conducted in an office setting at a computer or collaborating with others.

  • Compliance: Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities in

Labor Law: Knowledge of state and Federal employment laws, regulations, guidelines, and legal precedents related to hiring practices, equal employment opportunity, and wage and hour restrictions.

Research: Knowledge of the scientific principles, methods, and processes used to conduct a systematic and objective inquiry; including study design, collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; and the reporting of results.

Contracting/Procurement: Knowledge of various types of contracts, techniques, or requirements (for example, Federal Acquisitions Regulations) for contracting or procurement, and contract negotiation and administration.

professional experience monitoring contractor activities and administering construction contracts to ensure compliance with laws and regulations such as Affirmative Action, Equal Employment, Opportunity, and nondiscrimination.
