Criminal Justice Technician 1/2 (PCN 20-5292)

Wildwood Correctional Complex (WCC) is looking for applicants who are inspired to instill positive change in others and their community while consistently maintaining public safety. Wildwood Correctional Complex Criminal Justice Technicians (CJT) perform duties such as filing of court paperwork, booking records, entering sentencing and case information into ACOMS (Alaska Corrections Offender Management System), and arranging offender travel for furlough and release. As a member of a cohesive team, CJT’s will provide direct support the probation team as they supervise the offenders who are under the jurisdiction of the Superior court or District Courts of Alaska and have been remanded to the custody and care of the Department of Corrections.

Wildwood Correctional Complex is located in Kenai, just north of Soldotna and the world-famous Kenai River, offering fantastic outdoor activities and much, much more. This CJT position will work in a team environment in one of the three buildings located on the grounds of the Wildwood Correctional Complex under the direct supervision of the Probation Officer 3.

• Transcripts, if you are using them to meet minimum qualification.

• Sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution;
• Convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or
• Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described above.

This position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidate’s eligibility. If hired at the lower level, you will be promoted to the higher-level job class after completing the training plan and meeting the minimum qualifications.

If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of units completed. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position. Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS).  A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS.  DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice.  Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
