Cybersecurity Operations Officer!

This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 22.

Special Note : While the position has been advertised nationwide, please note that it necessitates on-site work in Anchorage, Alaska, full time, to effectively collaborate with the uniformed members of cybersecurity and ensure optimal security operations.

What You Will Be Doing :

The Division of Administrative Services (DAS) IT Section is seeking a highly experienced Cybersecurity Operations Officer and Subject Matter Expert. Under the direction of the Department Technology Officer, you will be responsible for building, developing, and leading cybersecurity operations from the ground up for the State's Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. This role demands extensive hands-on expertise in security management of virtualized environments, compliance / standards adherence, and incident / threat response management. Applicants must have a proven track record of independently managing complex cybersecurity operations and must be ready to deliver immediate impact in securing DMVA's infrastructure and aligning services with department strategies and goals.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Any combination of education and / or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in :

  • Hardware : Knowledge of specifications, uses, and types of computer or computer-related equipment.
  • Infrastructure Design : Knowledge of the architecture and typology of software, hardware, and networks, including LANS, WANS, and telecommunications systems, their components and associated protocols and standards, and how they operate and integrate with one another and with associated controlling software.
  • Operating Systems : Knowledge of computer network, desktop, and mainframe operating systems and their applications.
  • Systems Integration : Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information systems components.
  • Systems Testing and Evaluation : Knowledge of principles, methods, and tools for analyzing and developing systems testing and evaluation procedures and technical characteristics of IT systems, including identifying critical operational issues.
  • Equivalent to those typically gained by :

    Training in computer science, information technology, system administration, or a similar field and professional experience in database, network, or system administration.
