The Department of Health, Division of Public Assistance, is recruiting for multiple 

Long-Term Non-Permanent Eligibility Technician 1 positions in 

Anchorage, Bethel, Homer, Kenai, Ketchikan, Nome, and Wasilla!

What You Will Be Doing:

In this position, you will help Alaskan families, elders, and other individuals in need reach higher levels of independence and self-sufficiency. 

The initial focus will be supporting the Heating Assistance Program. Incumbents review applications, interpret and apply program policies and federal and state regulations, and authorize benefits to individuals or households who meet eligibility factors. Future duties may change based on the division's needs, including, but not limited to, processing paperwork and applications for other Alaska benefits programs.

One year of experience that included:
applying statutes, regulations, program requirements, or similar criteria or guidelines in order to process, review, and evaluate such documents as applications for employment, programs or services, loans, licenses, and/or permits; documents associated with insurance or employment benefit enrollment or claims, investigations or collections; and/or tax processing, investment, real estate transactions, or similar work.
AND/OR
Experience that included extensive person-to-person contact performing such work as explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements; eliciting or exchanging information as related to requirements or procedures; providing formal or informal instruction or training to people; and/or interviewing or counseling individuals, or performing similar work.
 
Substitution:
Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).At the time of the interview, please provide the following:
  1. Three (3) professional references whom we may contact by phone, one (1) of whom must be your current or most recent supervisor, if not already provided in the application. 
  2. Current performance evaluation, if available.
  3. A copy of academic transcripts (unofficial are okay; please ensure that the institution name/URL is listed on the transcripts) is used to verify that you meet the minimum qualifications.
