Employment Services Technician 1 located in Juneau!

What You Will Be Doing:
The Employment Services Technician (EST) 1 position provides employment services in the main service area of the Juneau Job Center, the Resource Room. The incumbent worker will provide a variety of services to customers, to include resume writing, interviewing skills, cover letter assistance, job search assistance, labor market research, and career exploration. Information is gathered from job seekers pertaining to work history and job readiness, skills, knowledge, abilities, qualifications, certifications, and licenses using formal and informal interviewing techniques. Referrals are made to job openings, training opportunities, partner agencies, and other services, as appropriate. Job seekers are instructed one-on-one and in group settings in employability skills, job search strategies, completing applications, resume assistance, interviewing techniques, and labor market research.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
The Employment Services Technician 1 is stationed in the Juneau Job Center which has plenty of free parking and is a short distance to area restaurants and shopping, so getting out of the office for lunch or a short break is very convenient. This EST position is customer-service driven and involves extensive contact with the public and staff via phone, email, video communication as well as face to face.

One year of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.

THIS RECRUITMENT IS FOR ALASKA RESIDENTS ONLY

DRIVER’S LICENSE REQUIREMENT
Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license. Proof of licensure will be required prior to reporting to duty.

  • A list of three (3) professional references, one of which should be your most recent supervisor, including name, job title, name of employer, and a current daytime phone number.
  • A copy of your last two (2) performance evaluations. If performance evaluations are unavailable, provide two (2) professional letters of recommendation from someone other than your three (3) professional references.
  • A copy of your valid Driver’s License.
