Investigator 1/2 located in Anchorage!

This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 14/16.

What You Will Be Doing:
Investigators perform investigations of alleged violations of State wage and hour laws, to include proper payment of wages, payment of minimum wage and overtime, child labor, public construction projects and prevailing wage payments. These positions also conduct on-sites and seminars and advise and educate the public on wage and hour laws. This is a flexibly staffed position, meaning the position may be filled at either the 1 or the 2 level depending on the applicants experience. If this position is filled at the lower level, the incumbent will be assigned increasingly complex cases as they work to gain experience to perform at the higher level. Once the incumbent hired at the lower level demonstrates proficiency at the higher level and meets minimum qualifications, the incumbent will be promoted to the higher range.

The mission of Wage and Hour is to ensure safe and legal working conditions. This position enforces and administers Alaska wage and hour laws. This includes enforcement of minimum wage and overtime laws, child labor laws, “right to return” transportation and public construction contract laws. The incumbent will contribute to the administration's success by enforcing Alaska wage and hour laws to ensure that workers are justly compensated for their work performed.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidate’s credibly possessed and proven competencies. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If hired at the lower level, you will be promoted to the higher level after successfully completing the training plan and demonstrating competency in the work.

DRIVER’S LICENSE REQUIREMENT
Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license. Proof of licensure will be required prior to reporting to duty.
