We train our loan closers to become experts on all commercial loan transactions that could lead to other advancement opportunities.
This is a crucial position in our Documents section, ensuring loan terms and agreements, interest rates, closing costs, are correct and ensuring transparency and accuracy. Throughout the process, the loan closer provides exceptional customer service, addressing the borrower inquiries with patience and expertise and guides them through the entire closing process.
This individual will be a key contributor to the efficient and effective operation of our closing functions and will conduct the State's closing business with professionalism, integrity, accountability, and a spirit of continuous improvement. Your role directly impacts borrowers’ lives and contributes to not only their success but our organization’s success as well!
The mission of the Division of Investments team is to administer and service loan programs under the Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development. These programs were primarily designed to promote economic development through direct state lending in industries and areas of the state that are not adequately serviced by the private sector.
The Investments team values a work-life balance, the team is a small, welcoming community of loan officers, collection officers, loan closers, accountants, and technicians. The Loan Closer/Processor 1/2 is a flexibly staffed position responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient closing of loan transactions for all loan programs administered by the Division of Investments.

The working environment you can expect:
As this is an on-site position and not eligible for telework, you will be working in our headquarters office located on the 9th floor of the State Office Building in beautiful downtown Juneau. You will enjoy a collaborative atmosphere in a fully resourced and modern office space, with splendid views of Mount Juneau and the Gastineau Channel.
The 9th floor, has a fully equipped and spacious break room, that you will have full access to, as well as easy access to various restaurants and coffee shops.

High School diploma or the equivalent
AND
Six months of experience performing a variety of office clerical assignments of average difficulty.
Substitution:
Completion of post secondary course work from an accredited institution will substitute for the required experience. (3 semester or 4 quarter hours of college course work is equivalent to 1 month. 150 of class room hours of vocational technical education is equivalent to 1 month of experience)
Special Note:
High School equivalent includes G.E.D. or completion of any basic adult education course of 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 hours per week), or six months of work experience performing duties related to document processing or twelve months of work experience involving some routine tasks related to office or clerical support or highest grade of school completed plus amount of work experience which totals 12 years.
Minimum Qualification for the Loan Closer/Processor 2 Level:
High School diploma or the equivalent
AND
Six months of experience in lending, banking, real estate, title insurance or a closely related field.
OR
High School diploma or the equivalent
AND
The completion of the training program for Loan Closer/Processors at the Division of Investments will substitute for the education and experience requirements.
Substitution:
College course work in business, finance, economics, public administration or a closely related field will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 1 semester hour or 1.3 quarters hours is equivalent to 1 month.
Special Note:
High School equivalent includes G.E.D. or completion of any basic adult education course of 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 hours per week), or six months of work experience performing duties related to document processing or twelve months of work experience involving some routine tasks related to office or clerical support or highest grade of school completed plus amount of work experience which totals 12 years.At time of interview applicant(s) are requested to submit:
Copies of your three (3) most recent performance evaluations or three (3) professional letters of reference and/
a list of three (3) professional references that have had supervisory responsibility over you along with their current daytime phone number and email address.
Utilize proprietary software for all loan programs administered. Utilization includes entering data and customer correspondence, reviewing and analyzing existing borrower information.
FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidate’s credibly possessed and proven competencies. If hired at the lower level, you will be promoted to the higher level after successfully completing the training plan and demonstrating competency in the work.
