This on-site position is in located in our Juneau Headquarters Office, in beautiful downtown Juneau, Alaska. This position is not eligible for telework.

The Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development, Division of Investments is recruiting for a Loan Closer/Processor 3 (PCN 089060).

You will work in our Documents section and serve as the lead loan closer that will assist the supervisor with managing all loan closing activities. This section is responsible for processing essential paperwork that is required to make commercial fishing loans, small business loans, and other various commercial loans.

Duties include closing complex loan transactions, assist the supervisor with ensuring the accuracy of all loan documentation, assigning work to staff, training staff, and preparing reports to management on a routine basis.

These programs were primarily designed to promote economic development through direct state lending in industries and areas of the state that are not adequately serviced by the private sector.

As this is an on-site position and not eligible for telework, you will be working in our headquarters office located on the 9th floor of the State Office Building in beautiful downtown Juneau. You will enjoy a collaborative atmosphere in a fully resourced and modern office space, with splendid views of Mount Juneau and the Gastineau Channel.

The 9th floor, has a fully equipped and spacious break room, that you will have full access to, as well as easy access to various restaurants and coffee shops.

Who we are looking for:

To be successful in this position a candidate will need the following core competencies:

  • Attention To Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail;

  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

  • Clerical: Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, and using and completing forms;

  • Reading: Understands and interprets written material, including technical material, rules, regulations, instructions, reports, charts, graphs, or tables; applies what is learned from written material to specific situations; and

  • Writing: Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner; and produces written information that is clear and in an organized manner.

Special Notice:

Utilize complex proprietary software for all loan programs administered. Utilization includes entering data and customer correspondence, reviewing and analyzing existing borrower information, managing timelines and workloads of staff and ensuring all entries are accurate.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or the equivalent
AND
Six months of experience performing journey level loan closing and processing duties with the Division of Investments. This is equivalent to a Loan Closer 2 with the State of Alaska.

OR
High School Diploma or the equivalent
AND
One year of experience performing journey level loan closing duties.

Or Substitution:
A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, public administration or closely related field may substitute for the required experience.

Special Note:
High School equivalent includes G.E.D. or completion of any basic adult education course of 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 hours per week), or six months of work experience performing duties related to document processing or twelve months of work experience involving some routine tasks related to office or clerical support or highest grade of school completed plus amount of work experience which totals 12 years.

  • Copies of your three (3) most recent performance evaluations; if no evaluations are available, three (3) professional letters of reference can be substituted.
  • List of three (3) professional references that have had supervisory responsibility over you along with their daytime contact phone numbers.

If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of units completed. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position. Transcripts can be attached at the time of application or provided at the time of interview.
