The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Division of Facilities Services is looking for a Maintenance Specialist - Bldg / Facility / Const - Journey 2 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

What you will be doing :

Under the direction of the Northern Region Building Maintenance Manager, this position works independently to plan, coordinate project resources, estimate costs, and provide quality assurance and logistics for the Division of Facilities Services projects. Additionally, the incumbent will construct, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain State facilities within the guidelines of current State statutes and codes in the most efficient and economical manner possible. The position requires planning, layout, procurement, and coordination skills in addition to the application of traditional building construction techniques. This position will work with a team of Rovers to accomplish the projects as needed.

The working environment you can expect :

The Northern Region Project Manager position is based in Fairbanks. The incumbent will have the opportunity to travel throughout northern Alaska to visit the project sites. The position works directly with the Northern Region Building Maintenance Manager to expedite projects from emergency repairs to scheduled upgrades.

  • Planning and Evaluating : Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
  • Computer Skills : Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Oral and Written Communication : Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
