This position is the face of the Alaska State Troopers to the community. Job duties include interacting with the public, answering phones, large amounts of complex data entry, case research, and other related clerical tasks. This position splits duties with the other Records Unit support staff.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:
This position is located at the Soldotna State Trooper Post on Kalifornsky Beach Road in Soldotna. Office space consists of individual workstations in an open area with a shared workstation located at the front counter to work directly with the public. The office is shared with three other administrative staff members with frequent use of office equipment by other staff. Individuals must be able to work with frequent interruptions and be able to work well with others in order to be successful in this positionWHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocation education equal one month of experience).
Special Note:
"High school diploma equivalent" means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.

SPECIFIC REQUIRMENTS FOR THE POSITION
- Valid Alaska Driver’s License desired.
- Requires occasional travel within the State.
- Will need to obtain Level One Procurement Authority: frequent use of ARMS, APSIN, NCIC, IRIS FIN, IRIS HRM, ALDER, & DPS Property Authority
ALASKA PUBLIC SAFETY INFORMATION NETWORK
This position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety is necessary to use APSIN. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally, a security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application or security clearance.
BACKGROUND CHECK
This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, and required access to APSIN, an applicant with criminal convictions will not move forward in the selection process.
CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT
The successful candidate will be required to read, understand, and agree to via signature, an agreement of confidentiality concerning the work commonly encountered within the Department of Public Safety to qualify for this position.
