The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Central Region is looking for a Right-of-Way (ROW) Agent 1/2 Flex to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
Base Salary Information:
Right-of-Way Agent 1: $25.88 Hourly (OT Eligible)
Right-of-Way Agent 2: $29.73 Hourly (OT Eligible)
What you will be doing:
This is a Right-of-Way (ROW) Agent 1/2 flex position, where both levels perform similar duties with differences in complexity and supervision. ROW Agent 1 receives on-the-job training and attends courses to learn section principles, working under close supervision on smaller assignments. Upon completing the Flex Training Plan, a ROW Agent 1 may advance to ROW Agent 2, taking on more complex tasks with greater independence.

This position resides in the DOT&PF Central Region Headquarters building at 4111 Aviation Avenue in Anchorage, Alaska. It is easily accessible by a paved multi-use path and bus routes 40 and 65. Located on the shore of the beautiful Lake Hood Seaplane Base near Ted Stevens International Airport. Office hours are flexible. As a side benefit, you will have easy access to bike & walking trails around Lake Hood.

Minimum Qualifications
Right-of-Way Agent 1:
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:
- Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Arithmetic: Performs computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division correctly using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
- Geography: Knowledge of geographical locations, and city, borough, state, federal governments; their relationships and characteristics.
- Interpersonal Skills: Treats others with courtesy, sensitivity, and respect. Considers and responds appropriately to the needs and feelings of different people in different situations.
- Reading: Understands and interprets written material, including technical material, rules, regulations, instructions, reports, charts, graphs, or tables; applies what is learned from written material to specific situations.
- Real Estate: Knowledge of real estate principles, practices, markets, and values.
equivalent to those typically gained by:
Technical experience assisting with property management or the preparation of legal descriptions of land, real property appraisals, title searching and abstracting, or surveying for any of the following: drafting land use permits or agreements, plats, engineering plans, landscape plans, maps, or similar diagrams.

Right-of-Way Agent 2:
Any experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

- Real Estate: Knowledge of real estate principles, practices, markets, and values.
- Standards: Knowledge of standards that either are compliant with or derived from established standards or guidelines.

Professional experience as an agent for public, personal, or commercial real property transactions, or in surveying or engineering in any of the following: searching, analyzing, and evaluating real property titles; preparing legal land descriptions; appraising real property; acquiring, managing, or disposing of public, personal, or commercial real estate; providing relocation assistance to displaced persons; or drafting of land use permits or agreements.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. It may be filled at the Right-of-Way Agent 1 or Right-of-Way Agent 2 level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level the position is hired at. If filled at a lower level, promotion to the higher level will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
