Job Description


What You Will Be Doing

This position is developing the capability to be responsible for day-to-day operations and administration of the Division’s custom and off-the-shelf solutions with close direction of tasks, including the design, development, and implementation of these systems. Oversight of all aspects to ensure proactive operations is a core competency. 

 

This position will ensure all gaps of support are covered to include Linux, Windows, security, vendor-managed applications, division developed applications, and other required services. Proper system planning, deployment, security, and continuity of operations is also required

 

 

Mission and Culture

The Treasury Division is the bank and trust department for the State of Alaska. It provides cash management, portfolio management, debt management and accounting services for the various retirement funds, the State's General Fund, the Constitutional Budget Reserve Fund and numerous other funds and trusts. This position is assigned to the division's asset accounting section.

The Working Environment You Can Expect

This position is located on the 11th floor in the State office building in downtown Juneau and have access to the covered parking garage.  Treasury professionals all receive laptops allowing them to Telework, subject to approval.

Who We Are Looking For

Technical Problem Solving: Troubleshoots, diagnoses, analyzes, and identifies system malfunctions to determine the source and cause of the problem.

Software Development: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for designing, developing, and testing software in a given environment.

Information Systems/Network Security: Knowledge of methods, tools, and procedures to prevent vulnerabilities and ensure the security of information systems and network services.

Systems Integration: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information systems components.

Infrastructure Design: Knowledge of the architecture and typology of software, hardware, and networks, including LANS, WANS, and telecommunications systems. 


Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:
 

  • Hardware: Knowledge of specifications, uses, and types of computer or computer-related equipment.
 
  • Infrastructure Design: Knowledge of the architecture and typology of software, hardware, and networks, including LANS, WANS, and telecommunications systems, their components and associated protocols and standards, and how they operate and integrate with one another and with associated controlling software.
 
  • Operating Systems: Knowledge of computer network, desktop, and mainframe operating systems and their applications.
 
  • Systems Integration: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information systems components.
 
  • Systems Testing and Evaluation: Knowledge of principles, methods, and tools for analyzing and developing systems testing and evaluation procedures and technical characteristics of IT systems, including identifying critical operational issues. 
 
Equivalent to those typically gained by:

Training in computer science, information technology, system administration, or a similar field and professional experience in database, network, or system administration.

 “Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.
