Job Summary
As our Legal Specialist, you will perform complex legal analysis to assist with the management of the rule writing process; draft effective and concise rules; provide legal guidance on rule language and impact; testify to rules in development; and plan the rule development strategy.
This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (1 day per week in the office/hoteling).

Job Duties
- Review environmental reports, rules, and plans
- Draft environmental regulations
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and statutory requirements for issuing regulations
- Make recommendations concerning compliance and legal issues
- Assist with impact analyses of new laws and rules
- Correspond professionally and expeditiously with applicants, stakeholders, and the public on environmental issues
- Juris Doctor Degree (required)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental/chemical engineering, environmental resource management, or environmental science preferred
- 8 years legal experience (JD may substitute for 4 years’ experience)
- Experience with State and Federal environmental regulations, environmental research, agency policies and processes, or other regulatory knowledge is preferred
