This position is eligible to participate in the ASE Stipend Pay Program, employees can earn up to $3000 a year with qualifying certifications. We will reimburse 100% of the cost of passed tests!
Uniforms provided to shop employees at no charge and are eligible to participate in the Safety-toe Shoe reimbursement program (100% of cost up to $250.00 every other calendar year)
Personal Tool Allowance of $1000 per calendar year and Personal Tool Insurance Coverage 100% for qualified losses on state premises
Work Hours: Monday through Friday 6:00am – 2:30pm
The anticipated hire rate for the position is $20.9423 ($43,559 annually) with the potential to earn up to $22.3841 ($46,559 annually) when ASE certifications are obtained.
This position requires working outside in the elements
Job Summary
This position is responsible for vehicle auction preparation which includes cleaning/detailing equipment/marking for removal, decal and component install/removal, taking photos, surplus customer interface, and minor repairs and reconciliation duties. This position is required to work outside in the elements.
Job Duties
Assist with all auction responsibilities, remove and install all vehicle decals, take photos and assists with all loading/unloading auction items and auction vehicle process status tracking.
Move all non-CDL vehicles and equipment in and out of shop. Move vehicles to vendors and emissions as needed. Fuel all new/reissue vehicles and deliver to Fleet. Perform new vehicle deliver inspections.
Assist Equipment Repair Technicians with the installation of equipment and accessories as needed.
Organize, test and inventory radios for stock, destroy unrepairable radios.
Operate forklift to perform some duties and may assist with auction yard management and maintenance.
Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
Knowledge
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
A minimum of two years experience in a fleet maintenance environment to include installation and assembly of equipment and apparatuses.
Relevant automotive technology education may be substituted on a month for month basis for the experience up to one year.
Pre-Employment Requirements
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

- Basic mechanical, technical and operation of automotive, light, medium, and heavy duty truck, off-road construction equipment and specialized highway maintenance equipment.
- Proper use and care of shop tools and equipment.

- Parts procurement practice and inventory control procedures.
- General personal computer and business software operation.
- Experience using Fleet Focus equipment.
- Focusing on procedures and processes and developing effective solutions within sources available.
- Safe operation of hand tools and related shop equipment.
- Safe operation of materials handling equipment, i.e. forklift.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Methodically approaching challenges.
- Input data into the equipment management system and utilize PC and PC PC programs such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exercise flexibility and be adaptive; adjust actions to changing situations and priorities as required.
- Recognize self limitations and know when to ask for assistance.

- Manage time effectively.
- Interpret written equipment specifications.
- Lift up to 50lbs; push/pull up to 90lbs.
