Rehabilitation & Reentry only.

Job Duties

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Conducts recruitment activities statewide, e.g., attends and participates in job fairs, recruitment seminars and

community visits; makes oral presentations; coordinates with various resource centers; addresses community

organizations; communicates orally and in writing to applicants concerning their status in the hiring process,

assists applicants to complete the hiring process and documents issues in the applicant tracking system;

conducts Evaluation Centers, e.g., prepares testing materials, gives oral instructions, administers written tests,

scores written tests; administers written psychological tests; makes job offers for new hires and rehires.

WORK CONDITIONS: Works various hours/shifts which may include weekends. This position requires in-

state travel on a regular basis which could include overnight stays. This position conducts a large number of

phone calls daily throughout the week, incoming calls, outgoing calls, and cold calls.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

Knowledge

Recruitment and interview techniques, ADC policies and procedures, ADOA Personnel Rules, personal

computer and software, duties of Correctional Officer. Knowledge of; methods and practices of safety,

security, custody and discipline of a correctional unit; Federal, State and agency laws, rules, regulations,

policies and procedures governing the custody and control of inmate populations; Federal, State and agency

laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing the management of employees; methods and

techniques of management and supervision; methods and techniques of paraprofessional counseling as applied

within the rehabilitative programs of the unit; methods and techniques of training staff in the security practices

and procedures; rules and policies governing classification, discipline and due process of the inmate

populations; methods and techniques of performing the administrative work appropriate to the assignment;

techniques and practice of security procedures, order and discipline as applied to inmates; portable and

stationary two-way radio systems used to communicate inside/outside an institution or the network with other

institutions; use of self-defense, weapons and related defense and control equipment; policies and procedures of

a corrections work setting, Federal and State policies and procedures regarding emergency response.

Skills

Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills; relate, identify and interact with applicants of

diverse backgrounds. Verbal and written communication skills. Skill in the use of computers and

telecommunications. Proficient in the use of weapons and other defense and control equipment. Skills in

managerial, organizational, communicative, motivational, analytical, and problem-solving. Skill in conducting

research and extracting, compiling, analyzing, evaluating, synthesizing, and presenting information;

interpersonal relations as applied to contacts with administrators, managers, employees, and representatives

within the agency and other state agencies; skills in prioritizing, typing, mentoring, and decision-making.

Ability

Represent ADC in a professional manner, conduct evaluations, and make oral presentations to groups.

Establish and maintain the prescribed security, custody, order, and discipline programs of the unit; apply and

interpret the Federal and State laws, agency rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing custody and

control of inmates; apply methods and techniques of management and supervision; apply and train in the

methods and techniques of paraprofessional counseling and crisis intervention of inmates; apply and interpret

the communications as required by the duties and assignments in a correctional setting; interpersonal

relationships within a correctional setting; maintain a calm and professional temperament during emergency

situations; perform administrative work activities appropriate to the assignment.
