Director of Multiplatform Media

Arkansas PBS is looking for a strategic and accomplished Director of Multiplatform Media to lead our team in enhancing the success of our linear and digital programming and promotional initiatives.

Responsibilities :

  • Own scheduling, communication, and dissemination workflows required to produce, socialize, and maintain broadcast schedules and on-demand content
  • Manage program databases to ensure accurate titles, thumbnails, descriptions, metadata, trademarks and rights usage, and FCC compliance
  • Direct creative efforts for the development and delivery of promotional assets, including local program promo production, national program promo editing, monthly station promos, and paid digital advertising
  • Run monthly meetings to inform all staff members of upcoming programming initiatives, navigating questions and negotiating roadblocks as they arise
  • Oversee budgets and contracting for TV programming and digital advertising
  • Manage four direct reports who have responsibilities that support linear and non-linear programming and content

Qualifications :

  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in radio and television, journalism, or a related field; including two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity
  • 3-5 years of media experience, preferably in a programming and / or creative editorial role
  • Demonstrated strategic and planning skills related to multiplatform programming
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage media priorities, timelines, and deadlines
  • Ability to build clear narratives through data analytics and campaign reporting
  • Experience with advertising platforms such as Meta and Roku
  • Experience with scheduling software such as ProTrack
  • Experience with contract management

    Summary

    The Arkansas Educational Television Network (AETN) Programming Division Director is responsible for directing the operation of the programming division and acquiring and scheduling programs for broadcast. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

    Functions :

  • Supervises a medium-sized technical and administrative support staff by interviewing, recommending for hire, training, counseling, approving leave, and evaluating the performance of incumbents.
  • Directs the operation of the programming division by developing and monitoring program acquisition and operational budgets, determining division goals and objectives, and developing and implementing work procedures.
  • Assesses programming needs and evaluates programming services by reviewing viewer surveys, examining ratings, and reviewing information received from viewing public to determine programs for broadcast.
  • Acquires and / or purchases programs for broadcast after reviewing needs assessments, locating programs, and screening programs for relevancy to the agency’s mission.
  • Schedules nationally-distributed and locally produced educational and general audience programs. Coordinates with communications division to prepare and produce monthly program guide.
  • Attends and participates in weekly senior management meetings to discuss division activities, to coordinate workflow among divisions, and to assist in development of agency policies and procedures.
  • Attends national, regional, and local meetings related to educational television to screen programs for possible purchase and exchange information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Dimensions

    Occasional in and out-of-state travel is required.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of television production techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of television program planning and evaluation techniques.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resource and organizational management.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate programs and services.
  • Ability to prepare and present oral and written information.
  • Ability to plan work unit objectives and operational activities and to assign and direct the work of subordinate supervisors.
  • Ability to coordinate program scheduling activities with others.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in radio and television, journalism, or a related field; plus five years of progressively more responsible experience in television production activities, including two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.

    Licenses

    Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license.
