Summary
The Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission (JDDC) Deputy Executive Director is responsible for assisting the Director with the commissionâÃÂÃÂs overall operations and for developing, administering, and monitoring commission programs, policies, and procedures. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
Functions
Provides general direction to subordinate staff by developing short and long term organizational goals and objectives, determining the allocation of internal and external resources, advising staff seeking guidance, and overseeing the functions of program activities to ensure fulfillment of the organization's mission and objectives. Provides technical assistance to staff and other commission officials by interpreting legislation, policies, and guidelines affecting commission development to determine the action required and resources needed to bring services into compliance. Maintains external relationships with other agencies, organizations, and individuals and resolves conflict situations through management meetings with commission staff. Responsible for decisions and final recommendations which may result in the formulation of strategic plans of action to achieve the goals of the commission. Makes preliminary evaluations, screens complaints, and conducts investigations. Responsible for the annual and biennial operating budget of the commission. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of organizational management and public administration. Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration with special reference to governmental procedures, practices, and objectives. Knowledge of the principles and practices of long-range planning. Ability to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of employees. Ability to lead and/or direct and organize program activities. Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions. Ability to communicate effectively and to represent the commission at public and official hearings.
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelorâÃÂÃÂs degree in public administration, business administration, political science, law, or a related area; plus six years of progressively more responsible experience in program or administrative operations, including three years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
