Working Conditions

Working conditions include both in-office and field work. Travel throughout southern California comprises a large portion of the work-week. Hybrid telework opportunities are available.

Telework / Remote Work Information : This position has been designated as eligible for telework. The position requires scheduled in-person attendance as well as telework opportunities in order to fulfill the duties of the position. The employee will report to the Monterey Park Regional Office (1000 Corporate Center Dr.) in Monterey Park as part of a hybrid work schedule.

This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Specific telework arrangements may be discussed in more detail with the respective hiring manager. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Social Services policies.

    The California Department of Social Services' (CDSS) Adoption Services Branch (ASB) facilitates adoption of children who need permanent homes by providing direct Agency and Independent adoption and Resource Family Approval services through six regional offices located throughout California. Collectively, the six regional offices operate the third largest adoption agency in California

    Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • A Master of Social Work (MSW) is required.

    This position is subject to fingerprinting clearance by the Department of Justice.

    Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by the Hiring Authority prior to appointment. Training and Development assignments are temporary in nature and shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months.

    Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview, but they must provide proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.
