Under the general direction of the Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker, the Clinical Counselor (CC), works in Medical Services, Integrated Care & Complex Patient Populations Division. The CC applies counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques within the scope of applicable Business and Professions Code(s) and license, for the purpose of treating incarcerated individual's with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and the effectiveness of preventative skills and behaviors developed for wellness. The CC performs assessments that assist with and facilitates transitional care planning and coordination that links incarcerated patients with resources.
Minimum Qualifications :
Education : Possession of a master's or doctoral degree in counseling or psychotherapy in content and meets the requirements stipulated in Business and Professional Code 4999.32 .
Possession of a valid license as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science. Applicants who do not qualify for licensure by the California Board of Behavioral Science may be admitted into the examination and may be appointed but must secure a valid license within four years of appointment; however, an individual can be employed only to the extent necessary to be eligible for licensure plus one year.

This newly-created statewide program is designed to provide integrated, specialized care to patients with a history of substance use who require additional medical assistance. ISUDT staff are committed to providing optimal care, promoting patients' successful reintegration into society, and reducing recidivism.

Special Requirements
Possession of a valid license as a Clinical Counselor issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science is required.
