Under direction of the Application Development & Support (ADS) Information Technology Supervisor II, the Database Developer is responsible for a wide variety of analytical and data processing activities necessary to analyze, design, develop, test, implement, document, debug, train users, and support the California State Lottery's (Lottery) portfolio of enterprise business applications and system environment.
Responsibilities include defining and maintaining standards, processes, procedures, requirem ents management, database development and debugging using various programming tools and languages, and systematic debugging and testing methods for complex systems. The incumbent provides documented, well-thought recommendations utilizing database development tools and technologies in support of database development, and content management.
The database developer consults with users, administrators, and developers to identify business and technical requirements and performs the designing, developing, and implementing database systems based on customer requirements and best practices. Optimizing and maintaining database systems for performance, efficiency, and security. Preparing design specifications and functional documentations for assigned database projects. Monitors and solves database issues and malfunctions using industry and Lottery best practices. The duties for this position are focused in the Software Engineering domain; however, work may be assigned in other domains as needed.

This position is headquartered at Sacramento HQ and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as assigned. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee. Eligibility for telework requires the employee to reside in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states : "telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California.
