Under general supervision of the Information Technology Supervisor II (ITS II) over the Program Support Services group in the Office of Information Services the Information Technology Associate (ITA) responds to all DIR users providing timely, courteous, and effective technical support of computer hardware and software according to the IT Service Level Agreement. The ITA will also analyze, develop and document business processes utilizing industry best practices and standard methodologies.

Working Conditions

The Information Technology Associate will work in an open-spaced, partitioned office environment, climate-controlled, high-rise office building under natural and artificial light in downtown Oakland, CA within walking distance of public transportation. The job involves substantial computer work, including document creation, research, email correspondence, and other related tasks. Currently DIR has a hybrid telework schedule with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. The ITA may perform other duties (commensurate with this classification) as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover during absences, equalizing work periods or otherwise balance the workload.

    Department Information

    The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. Its mission is to improve working conditions for California's wage earners and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.

    This position requires the IT Associate to maintain acceptable, consistent and regular attendance at such level as is determined at the Department's sole discretion; Must be regularly available and willing to work the hours the Department determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

    The IT Associate shall communicate effectively (orally and in writing) if both appropriate in dealing with the public and / or other employees; develop and maintain knowledge and skill related to specific tasks, methodologies, materials, tools, and equipment; complete assignments in a timely and efficient manner; and adhere to departmental policies and procedures regarding attendance, leave, and conduct.

    Be able to maintain a professional attitude when providing IT services with attention to detail and effective organizational skills. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Travel to department remote sites, including CDT's Data Center (TMS).
