Cal OES is recruiting for Limited Term positions and Emergency Hire Appointments in support of the Disaster Response and Recovery efforts in Southern California.
Job Summary :
Under the direction of the Data and Innovation Manager (ITM I) the Information Technology Associate is responsible for the creation, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and reporting of Data and Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions. This includes creating analytical tools for emergency response data and geographical needs, modifying existing solutions to meet stakeholder requirements, and resolving routine production support issues. The individual is responsible for creating and maintaining solution documentation, database schemas, and standard operating procedures. Assist in the development of dashboards, GIS modeling and analysis, and data visualizations. Contribute to open data research and development activities, as well as perform data modeling and advanced analytics using machine learning and artificial intelligence. The incumbent will implement data management standards and best practices, geospatial and cartographic principles and standards, and the creation and management of metadata in compliance with Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) standards.
- Limited Term positions may be appointed up to 12 months or extended to 24 months with the possibility of becoming permanent.

- Emergency Appointment (Ehire) will be considered
- An emergency hire appointment can work up to 189 days in 12 consecutive months, based on the needs of the disaster.
- Positions are paid on an hourly basis, once a month, during the first week of the month following the closure of the pay period. An emergency hire appointment is not eligible for medical benefits or a retirement program.
- Emergency hire appointments earn state service and sick leave and vacation based upon actual time worked.
- Civil Service Examinations are not required for appointment.

This position is Headquartered and reports to the office located in Mather, CA.
Telework - This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule which includes up to two days of remote work per week. Additional in office days may be required based on the business needs. Main Office located in Mather, CA.

Exam & Additional Information
Training and Development (T&D) assignments are temporary assignments to provide an employee training and experience to move to a different occupational field. A T&D assignment is a formal agreement between the employee, the current supervisor, and the new supervisor. The duration of agreements can vary in length but shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months.
