The Employment Development Department (EDD) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to work in the Network Engineering Group. The Information Technology (IT) Specialist I provides support of the organization's enterprise IT engineering functions, including all associated hardware / software components and the confidential and sensitive data used at the EDD. This position will require you to be a technical network specialist on systems software / hardware projects, information systems, cloud services, and networks focused on the following technologies : firewalls, routing, switches, Virtual Private Networks, load balancers, Software Defined Data Center, and Network Monitoring / Management tools. We are seeking individuals with experience and strengths in networking, troubleshooting analysis, and technical documentation, that are able to perform completed staff work. As a network specialist, you are responsible for the implementation, maintenance and operations of the organization's statewide information technology systems.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change as business needs arise. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office on their assigned in-office days. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.
Position is located at EDD's headquarters office at 800 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, California.

Statement of Qualifications Requirements
A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is Required. The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.

The EDD Network Engineering Group (NEG) is involved with the planning, building and running of technology, which includes engineering, test, deployment and maintenance of network systems and tools for the Enterprise. NEG also participates on many enterprise-level projects and deals with critical network issues by providing technical expertise with design, integration, consultation and other network related services. As a member of the Networks team, you may be a participant or a lead in part or all of these activities. Please answer the following prompts related to your networking experience.

Background Investigation Requirement
The position(s) may require an applicant to pass a background investigation. However, applicants will not be asked to provide information about a conviction history unless they receive a conditional offer of employment.
