What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Technician position at State of California?
Under close supervision, the Program Technician learns to performs work involved with the processing of technical documents and / or giving technical information to departmental clientele and the public. The incumbent should have detailed knowledge of and the ability to interpret, apply, and communicate specific laws, rules, and policies related to program work. The incumbent will work closely with the following units : The Intake Section which is responsible for scanning all claims that have been received and file the claims for evaluation at a future date. The Locator Section which is responsible for locating and sending claim packages or other correspondence to potential claimants. The Mailroom Section that is responsible for sorting and distributing all incoming mail to the appropriate unit as well as collecting and sending outgoing correspondence for the Unclaimed Property Division (UPD).
Duties Performed :
Candidates must perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodations.)
- Receive, log, and evaluate incoming claims into UPS2000 and CANotice systems. Research and respond to claim inquiries regarding ownership of unclaimed property.
- Log unclaimed property reports into UPS2000. Assist with preparation of reports for database entry. Perform research of files and run database queries and conduct other related work.
- Open, sort, and date stamp mail received in the UPD. Deliver incoming mail and pick up outgoing mail from various UPD units. Maintain records of the UPD's record retention files. Update and maintain statistical reports for various types of undelivered mail notices returned to UPD. Scan undeliverable pre-escheat notices into the UPS2000 and CANotice systems and prepare for disposal.
- Provide support to the Special Operations Bureau by cross-training with other Program Technicians and providing back-up to address the fluctuating needs of the Bureau.

Working Conditions
Required Hours : Monday - Friday, 7 : 30 a.m. - 4 : 00 p.m.
This position is located in Rancho Cordova on White Rock Road, between Mather Field Road and Zinfandel Drive just off US 50 offering free parking is situated in the family-friendly suburbs of Sacramento. There is an abundance of nearby shopping centers and dining options with public transportation accessible nearby via Sacramento Regional Transit's bus and light rail systems.
