Job Title: Staff Psychiatrist, CF - Avenal State Prison (ASP)
We are seeking a qualified Staff Psychiatrist to join our team at Avenal State Prison (ASP) in California.
About the Role:
- Work as part of an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team providing general population outpatient services to inmates.
- Perform psychiatric evaluations, participate in treatment planning and case reviews, prescribe medications, and provide crisis intervention and psychotherapy.
- Provide consultations and training in treatment approaches to both clinical and custody staff of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments of inmates.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
- Prescribe medications and monitor patient response.
- Provide crisis intervention and psychotherapy services as needed.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of patient interactions and treatment progress.
Requirements:
- Board certification or eligibility in psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
- Current licensure as a physician in the state of California.
- Experience working in a correctional setting is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
