Under the general supervision of the Staff Services Manager (SSM) II, the SSM I has supervisory responsibility in the Criminal Justice Statistics Center, which is a high-profile program that involves the quality control and analysis of statewide statistical data in relation to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Criminal Reporting Program including arrests, arson, crimes and clearances, hate crimes, homicides, law enforcement officers killed or assaulted, use of force incidents, deaths in custody, in addition to domestic violence-related call for service, anti-reproductive rights crimes, violent crimes against senior citizens, juvenile court and probation data, and information from agencies as required by the California Values Act.
The SSM I plans, organizes, and directs the Section's operations, which include : resource allocation; develops strategies to implement new, or refine existing, data review processes and quality assurance procedures; prepares management reports; establishes goals, objectives, and work priorities; and represents the Section in interactions with various criminal justice agencies and stakeholders. In addition, the SSM I facilitates communication between the Section and bureau management, as well as other Department of Justice programs to issue required publications. Additional key responsibilities includes to ensure time-sensitive data requests are handled appropriately.

Working Conditions
This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.
This position is eligible for telework, and will be required to report to the office as needed / required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
