Description of Job
Who we are:
The Lottery's mission is to grow revenue responsibly in order to maximize proceeds for outdoor recreation, conservation and schools for the good of all Coloradans. The Operations Section is in charge of daily operations and support of the Lottery, including oversight of the following units: Draw/Computer Operations, Retail Operations and the Business Analysis Management Office (BAMO). These units support drawings, rulemaking, claims processing, customer service, facility support, quality assurance and customer acceptance testing, training, OIT Interagency oversight, and related-contract management.
What we do:
Draw Operations is responsible for conducting all Jackpot Drawings in accordance with the Colorado Lottery Statutes, Rules, Drawing Guidelines, Drawing Schedules, and predefined alternative procedures as needed (i.e. lockdown, manually conducting a drawing, disaster recovery, etc.) This position also supports the lottery business by monitoring, maintaining and uploading vendor files, provides support to the BAMO section and performs all 2nd Chance, Bonus and Promotional Drawings.
A typical day as a Term Limited Draw Assistant:
The Term Limited Draw Assistant is a tech savvy individual who knows how to navigate various computer systems and software in order to conduct system implementation testing. The successful candidate in this position is a problem solver, navigating issues and errors and figuring out who to contact. if you're detail oriented, analytical minded and able to follow processes, then this may be the job for you!
Primary Duties:
- Conducts testing by following a test case process.
- Explains the results that were observed during testing and document the anomaly and refer
- to the system requirements standards to confirm if a production bug has been found.
- Compares and verifies report data from the Business Analyst Management Office and determine if the data is accurate.
- Documents all new business and technical processes according to work load and standards while maintaining accurate documentation for all existing procedures, schedules, and supporting documents.
- Performs In-State Jackpot Drawings and MUSL Jackpot Drawings, including pre-draw processes.
- Monitors the activities and statuses of the Central Gaming System and Internal Control System.
- This position will back up the Draw Operators occasionally, those shifts being day (7am-3:30pm), mid day (12pm-8:30pm) and night shift (3pm-11:30pm).
- Shift differentials are available whenever work is performed during the night shift.

Special Qualifications:
- Applicants must also undergo a conflict-of-interest assessment to determine compliance with the provisions of C.R.S. § 44-40-110, and must remain in compliance with C.R.S. § 44-40-110 for the duration of their employment with the Colorado Lottery.

- This position will work directly for the BAMO Unit. This is a term-limited position. The selected candidate will perform duties with the Colorado Department of Revenue from the date of hire to approximately the end date of February 28, 2025. Upon acceptance to an appointment to this position, candidates will be required to sign a waiver of their retention rights under the classified personnel system.

Conditions of Employment with the CDOR:
As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
