The Taxation Division promotes voluntary compliance with all tax laws through information, education, assistance and customer service.
The Typical Day as an E-File Analyst:
As an E-File Analyst IV, you will:
Development and implementation
- Serve as work lead for the online sales tax filing portal Sales and Use Tax System (SUTS) and the Geographic Information System (GIS), providing general oversight of work to two positions.
- Analyze income tax and business tax statutory, legislative changes, and form changes then translate these changes into electronic return formats.
- Evaluate and improve existing processes, documentation, return schema, and business rules for multiple tax types.
- Manage third-party software vendor testing and submissions.
- Analyze and improve the customer experience and increase utilization of the online system.
Add functionality to and improve responsiveness of Revenue Online.
Coordination with third-party
- Interface with outside organizations and work groups to enhance data standards and understand e-file issues.
- Benchmark public and private websites for best practices and develop prioritization for Revenue Online fixes and/or enhancements.
Systems Management
- Research electronic submissions to determine if any errors exist that cause a delay in processing.
- Review data in Revenue Online and GenTax to determine where transactional issues occur.
- Monitor the IRS e-services communications to ensure the filing portal is open and free of errors.
- Monitor system performance to ensure Gentax processes e-filed returns correctly and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the supervisor to identify system issues and prepare system support tickets.
- Perform User Acceptance Testing, recommend correction and resolve assigned system support tickets.
- Manage and respond to inquiries received through departmental email.
This position is primarily hybrid with occasional in person meetings.

- Leadership/supervisor experience
- Experience in training different systems to team members
- Independently guiding work of other positions
- Designing and writing XML schemas or other tax return reporting standards.
- Possess federal and state income tax and state sales tax knowledge.
- Analyzing state income and sales tax laws and translating these into electronic tax forms.
- Analyzing and adopting national e-file standards and best practices.
- Providing system analysis and support for Fast Enterprises Gentax.
- Testing and validating business systems.
- Proficiency in the use of various PC software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), and Google Suite.
- Strong written communications skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts.
- Self-starter, including the ability to learn new processes, concepts and develop expertise.

As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
