About the position
This position is responsible for documenting all ITS Assets in GIS including but not be limited to, Devices, Switches, Nodes, and Power Structures (aka Uninterruptible Power Sources). These duties will include the management of the ITS GIS, implementing best practices for data collection, quality control and reporting processes, and ITS Assets web map. The data managed by this position supports the ITS Asset Manager in ITS asset management coordination and reporting. In addition, the ITS asset inventory supports other ITS units’ job functions including work orders, ticketing systems and the locates program.
Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintain an accurate geospatial record of all ITS Devices, utility assets, and all other infrastructure related to the ITS asset inventory
Responsible for ensuring the appropriate GIS best practices and principles are applied to align the ITS branch’s geospatial inventory with other GIS groups at CDOT
Work with internal and external customers who use the data to ensure it is set up and shared in a transparent and effective way
Responsible for setting up the data and associated files and database in an appropriate, efficient and effective manner
Knowledge and understanding on how to import, process and integrate CAD files to help simplify the digitization of new assets and infrastructure
Demonstrate strong spatial data processing, automation and tool development skills
Develop and maintain online and offline maps, and GIS Dashboards and webpages, for use by internal and external customers
Ensure accuracy and consistency in the inventory by proactively and reactively applying best digitization practices and performing quality control/quality assurance measures for edits made by other team members
Manage and monitor software and programs needed to create utility maps, updates database and coordinates software upgrades that are needed for future reference and designs
Responsible for developing, creating and providing reports and maps related to the ITS asset inventory
Document processes that provide source data for the geospatial inventory (i.e. asbuilts, field data collection, etc)
Capability to work with, maintain and connect multiple different data sets

About the Work Unit
The ITS Asset Management Unit resides within the ITS & Network Services Branch, Division of Maintenance & Operations. This Unit exists to support the overall Branch, ITS Program and the Division of Maintenance & Operations (DMO) with all components of ITS Asset Management. This Unit oversees and drives all inventory standards and processes for all ITS assets including (but not limited to) ITS devices, network devices, fiber infrastructure, power infrastructure, communication components, applications, databases, servers, desktops and vehicles. In addition, this group is responsible for all Asset management planning and reporting including asset reporting, replacement planning, budget tracking, treatment lists and all TAM program requirements. The ITS architecture is a critical planning element that is managed by the ITS Asset Management unit. This unit collaborates and makes CDOT-wide decisions by working with stakeholders and partners, along with documenting clear roles and responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience Only:
Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position: Examples: GIS, Geospatial Science, Geography, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years. Examples: Bachelor of Science in Geographic Information Science, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science with emphasis on: spatial analysis, remote sensing, cartography, data visualization, mapping technologies

Comfortable leading meetings with competing stakeholder needs with the end goal to have all stakeholder aligned in the same direction

Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), SAP, Google, SharePoint and the ability to learn other software systems
