Description of Job
Roxborough State Park:

Park Maintenance Technician: 40 hours / week, position starts: 4/23/25
A Park Maintenance Technician performs a wide variety of tasks throughout the park. These range from
mowing and weed whacking along trails and roads to hiking out to build trails, mend fences, as well as
cleaning and maintaining facilities. Maintenance Technicians help keep our parks the amazing places
that everyone wants to visit! Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Trail Maintenance (Corridor clearing, trail work)
- Mowing along park roadways and weed whacking along trails
- Monitor patrol radios and communicate important information to staff.
- Operates and performs routine maintenance on State owned vehicles and equipment
- Assures quality customer service and facility maintenance, repair and cleanliness
- Provides information and assistance to visitors
- May assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work and transporting materials and supplies
- Leading community service project groups
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Gate Attendant/ Visitor Services: 32 to 40 hours/ week, positions start: 5/7/25
A customer service-based position that involves working in an entrance gate building greeting visitors.
Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills. This position will work Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Work directly with park visitors to greet and orientate them with the park.
- Sell park passes and keep track of parking lot capacity.
- Provide information and assistance to park visitors (distributes maps/ brochures, orients visitors to park facilities and amenities, promotes education programs, etc.)
- Answer questions about the park and local wildlife.
- Monitor park radio communication and communicate important information to park staff.
- May document and report visitor complaints.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be able to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays may be required.
- Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week.
- Will need to undergo a criminal background investigation.
- Willing to work outside, sometimes in inclement weather.
- Gate Attendant/ Visitor Services must be able to lift 10-25 pounds repeatedly during the course of a single workday
- Park Maintenance Technician must be able to lift 75-100 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday.
- Previous experience handling money and working with the public preferred.
- Basic computer skills required
- Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills to deliver excellent customer service.
- Must be able to take initiative, work with minimal supervision, and deliver high-quality results.
- The park will provide uniform shirts, hats, and name tags, however the employee may be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense.
