The Department of Athletics will support the university mission by developing and maintaining a top-quality Division II intercollegiate athletics program that is committed to providing a positive and fulfilling academic and athletic experience for all student-athletes. As a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and the NCAA Division II, CSU Pueblo Athletics plays a supporting role in the higher education mission while enhancing a sense of community, strengthening our identity and playing a prominent role in enrollment management for the University.  CSU Pueblo is dedicated to interdisciplinary learning and entrepreneurship that elevates our people and our community, creates educational opportunities, fosters unique collaborations, and supports inclusion, access, and affordability as a gateway to the world.

This full-time, year-round administrative professional position provides an assistant coach for the women’s basketball program in Athletics. This position will provide support in the overall organization and management of the women’s basketball program while reporting to the head women’s basketball coach. In accordance with the vision of the head coach, the position is responsible for serving as an assistant coach; specifically coaching all positions; assisting in the development of practice and game plans, and training sessions; scouting opponents and creating a sound offensive and defensive strategy; recruiting qualified prospective student-athletes; monitoring player academics and providing mentoring to student-athletes; monitoring NCAA compliance; promoting the CSU Pueblo women’s basketball program; developing camps, clinics and fund-raising opportunities for women’s basketball; and serving as an influential and effective leader, collaborator, and team player for the department. The position fulfills other duties as assigned by the head coach and/or Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships. 


Primary Duties
  • Serve as the assistant Women’s Basketball Coach in collaboration with the vision of the head coach.
  • Coach student-athletes, including all team practices and scheduled games/competitions; develop game preparation and strategy; condition and train student-athletes (including skill demonstration) in order to develop skill, character, and teamwork in men's soccer. Ensure that all University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations are followed including student-athlete eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, scheduling and academic progress. Follow University procurement and travel policies. Work in collaboration with fellow coaches and staff under the direction of the head Women's Basketball coach.
  • Recruit highly qualified prospective student-athletes.
  • Monitor player academics, encourage academic excellence including student-athlete health, wellness and overall welfare. 
  • Assist in the organization of camps and clinics; fund-raising opportunities; serve on committees that promote the success of the program and Athletics; establish and maintain community relations and engagement that enhances the success of the program.

Ancillary Duties
Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Vice President for Athletics and Strategic Partnerships.

Salary Range
 $38,000- $45,000Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year institution
  • Willing and able to work nights and weekends as needed to fulfill position duties
  • Physical ability to fulfill duties of the position, including skill demonstration
  • At least one year of successful coaching in women's basketball at high school or higher level; this experience can include intern or graduate assistant work
  • Experience with, or commitment to, working in a diverse work environment
  • Experience in positions or activities that required skills in cooperation, organization, communication and problem solving
  • Experience in a position or activity that required knowledge of NCAA and/or RMAC rules and regulations
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Master’s degree from an accredited 4-year institution
  • Strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach and counsel student-athletes to achieve their highest potential
  • Previous experience at the collegiate level in women's basketball
  • Previous experience recruiting NCAA qualified student-athletes
