Job Summary: Supports the Auraria Campus Operations and Maintenance/ Grounds shop with general cleanup and stocking supplies and materials, recycling, general grounds maintenance which may include weed mitigation, trash removal and litter pickup, irrigation repairs, mowing, trimming and edging and snow removal.

Description Of Job
Job Summary: Supports the Auraria Campus Operations and Maintenance/ Grounds shop with general cleanup and stocking supplies and materials, recycling, general grounds maintenance which may include weed mitigation, trash removal and litter pickup, irrigation repairs, mowing, trimming and edging and snow removal.
Essential Functions: Grounds Maintenance:
- Cares for established lawns, trees, flower beds and walkways by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch using hand, powered and/or motorized tools.
- Provides proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, monuments signs, or other grounds features
- Spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, or trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
- Gather and remove litter from campus grounds and exterior trash cans.
- Maintains and repairs the campus irrigation systems by inspecting, detecting and monitoring spray patterns, drip lines, and potential leaks and abnormal flow.
- Maintains tools, equipment, fences, benches, etc. using hand or power tools.
- Operates vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, snow blowers, electric clippers, and pruning saws.
- Provides coverage as part of the Snow Removal Team. Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, patios, and streets by operating snowplows, sweepers, snow blowers and hand shovels.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
- One (1) year of progressively responsible grounds care and maintenance work experience. (this must be specifically demonstrated on your application).
- Valid and unencumbered Colorado driver license.
- The person selected for this position must maintain their ability to stand for long periods of time as well as kneel, stoop, crouch, reach and grab in the performance of job-related duties.
- Must be willing and able to physically maneuver and manipulate various hand tools (shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes) used in the performance of job-related duties
- This person selected for this position must maintain their ability to perform the physical demands of this position which include physically manipulating and moving shrubbery and other landscaping material in excess of 10 lbs. on a frequent basis as well as 20 lbs. to 50 lbs. (occasionally).
- Must be willing and able to perform work duties while exposed to extremes in weather elements (i.e. snow in the winter, heat in the summer).
- Willingness to adhere to all safety guidance material.
- Must maintain a valid and unencumbered Colorado driver license.
