Our Labor, Trades and Crafts are an essential part of Adams State University's success. ASU Facilities Services Department supports the mission of the institution by providing a safe, comfortable, fully functional and aesthetically pleasing campus community environment by assisting with set-up for indoor/outdoor special and athletic events performed on ASU campus.

This position assists Facilities Services personnel with performance of their duties, with a special emphasis on strenuous, general labor tasks. This will include but not be limited to: custodial cleaning, office and construction moves, special events set-ups and take-downs, recycling, orders, grounds/nursery, deliveries and conferences.


Other duties performed by this position include:

  • Assist set-up for indoor/outdoor special and athletic events. 
  • Assist with scheduled moves within the campus community, Moving offices around after construction projects or remodels.
  • Clean campus facilities before, during and after indoor/outdoor special and athletic events
  • Perform project deep cleaning 
  • Assists ground/nursery crew by shoveling, raking. Lifting, carrying, pushing pulling and/or other means with various tasks including snow removal and plowing. 
  • Small equipment repair
  • Maintenance of recycling bins and material
  • Light painting
  • Light and ballast repairs
  • Pressure washing and window cleaning of buildings
  • Performing general custodial duties.
  • Operate machinery.
  • Must be willing to perform work duties while exposed to extremes in weather elements (i.e. snow in the winter, heat in the summer).
  • This position must understand SDS Sheets, proper use of cleaning chemicals, water, natural soaps, synthetic detergents/surfactants, solvents, acid, alkaline cleaners etc. The use of these chemicals requires proper safety precautions and knowledge of various chemical hazards.
** This position is required to work flexible schedules including split shifts, weekends and evenings to provide adequate coverage as needed.

In this position you will be required to exert or lift in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. for force constantly. It also requires constant or frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, handling, pushing, pulling and reaching.

Necessary Special Requirements
Possession of a current valid State of Colorado Driver's license is required for this position. The successful applicant must maintain the ability to independently travel in the performance of job-related duties.  Please submit a copy of your Driver's License with your application.

Note: Although this position is non-exempt for FLSA, it is a condition of employment at Adams State University to agree to receive compensation time in lieu of overtime pay.

Excellent communication skills.
Experience performing duties in an academic k-12 or higher education setting.

*Years of experience will be expressed in terms of full-time equivalent service with full-time workload equal to one (1) Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) year.  No more that 1.00 FTE year may be credited in any twelve (12) month period.  Positions working 40 hours or less per week will be pro-rated (30 hrs/wk=0.75 FTE=9 mos credit; 20 hrs/wk=0.5 FTE=6 mos credit; 10 hrs/wk=0.25 FTE= 3 mos credit.)*
