This position independently performs a range of tasks related to work involved in the fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of gas, steam, air, refrigeration, or plumbing fixtures, equipment, pipes, fittings, and controls.

A summary of the duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:


HVAC Operations - Operate and control primary and secondary multi-story buildings' heating, cooling, and ventilation systems by monitoring and adjusting existing manual, pneumatic, electronic, electric and computerized control systems. Provide and control heat and cooling to
state buildings by the installation, operation, preventative maintenance and repair of primary and secondary heating and cooling systems.


Building Automation Computer System - Operation of computer and computerized building automation systems to assure a higher state of control of the primary and secondary hearing, cooling and ventilation systems.

Chemical Systems Management - Prevent and control the build up of scale, corrosion and fouling in the systems and to promote energy savings, efficient operation and longer life of primary and secondary heating and cooling systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Experience Only:

At least three (3) years of relevant HVAC experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position


OR

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to HVAC and the work assigned equal to at least three (3) years


The exceptional candidate will possess the proven ability or accomplishment in the following preferred qualifications:

  • Previous State Service related to the work assigned to the position

  • Familiar with computerized maintenance management and building automation systems

  • Universal CFC EPA certification

  • Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google software.  

  • As an essential employee, this position may be required to respond to building emergencies and weather related events when necessary

Conditions of Employment:

  • A pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.

  • Travel occasional travel to Grand Junction, Colorado

  • On-Call Status: Rotational on-call/emergencies

  • Shift Work: Must be able to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift


Comparative Analysis Process The comparative analysis process for this position may consist of a structured application review, an online assessment and a structured interview.


Appeal Rights:

As an applicant directly affected by the results of the selection or comparative analysis process, you may file a written appeal with the State Personnel Director.


Review of the completed, signed and submitted appeal will be timely on the basis of written material submitted by you, using the official appeal form signed by you or your representative. This form must be completed and delivered to the State Personnel Board by email at dpa_state.personnelboard@state.co.us within ten (10) calendar days from your receipt of notice or acknowledgement of the Department’s action.
