Note:  Work hours for this position will be from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  May need to work occasional shifts outside of the regular shift to meet the needs of the department. This position is required to be on-call and accessible during non-work hours in case of emergencies. Successful candidate must be able to follow verbal communications and be able to read and comprehend written directions. Also, must be able to interpret written directives, policies, and memos. An essential function of this position requires the individual to exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. It also requires constant or frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and depth perception. You must be able to perform this level of physical exertion and essential functions in order to be considered for this position.

Please include your current e-mail address on your application and set up your e-mail to accept messages from info@governmentjobs.com and 'cccs.edu' addresses.   If you do not have an email address, then you will receive correspondence via US mail. This full time position works in the Facilities Department at Community College of Aurora. Primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Supervise the pipe and mechanical trades work unit including accountability for the use of equipment, space, and resources. This position will troubleshoot, analyze and make judgments to determine the most effective solutions to problems. This position directly controls the work of assigned staff and determines the work procedures for the unit. 

This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of air, or plumbing fixtures, equipment, pipes, fittings, and controls. Installs valves, pumps, pipes, compressors, condensers, temperature controls, control panels, fans, gauges, and switches; and connects pipe to components and power or water systems; tests and adjusts gauges and controls for efficient operation; and assembles structural and functional components.

Provides and schedules vendor support to maintenance, and other initiatives related to the work unit. Solicits quotations from vendors, schedules work to be completed, and perform quality assurance on work completed by vendors. 

Assist other facilities work units with completion of various service requests related to providing a safe, clean and comfortable learning environment for students and staff throughout the college system. Seasonal snow and ice removal with shift variation will be required as needed. This position will perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:

Four (4) years of experience in HVAC and/or plumbing. Do not use "SEE RESUME" statements on application; your application must be completed in detail and clearly document your relevant work experience. (Part time experience will be pro-rated).  

 

OR

Education and Experience:

Successful completion of a formalized heating, ventilation and air conditioning apprenticeship program, or higher level, non-correspondence course work in the same fields from an accredited vocational school or university may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis. You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application in order to be considered. Please redact age-related information on your transcript.  


Conditions of Employment: Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado driver's license to independently drive company vehicles and equipment around the campus, pick up parts, etc. Must submit to and successfully complete a pre-employment background check to include a motor vehicle report (MVR) as a condition of hire. Felony convictions or conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position. Should your background check reveal any charges and convictions, it is your responsibility to provide CCA Office of Human Resources with an official disposition of the charges.  Position is required to be on-call to perform essential and/or emergency services of the agency without delay and/or interruption. Appeal Rights:
