The Office of the Governor's staff includes budgeting, communications and outreach, legal counsel, legislative liaison, operations, policy and research, and scheduling.

Hiring Range: $56,485 - $60,000 Annually, depending on qualifications
FLSA Status: Exempt
The Policy Coordinator reports to the Director of Policy and Research and the Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Legislative Affairs. This position (1) provides administrative support, including scheduling, to the Governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Legislative Affairs and Director of Policy and Research, (2) supports administrative and operational processes among the Governor’s Policy and Research team and (3) supports special projects and policy research as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains and manages calendars, coordinating all meeting and event logistics, for the Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Legislative Affairs and the Director of Policy and Research
Manages logistics for Policy and Research team weekly meetings, including attending and taking notes
Point of contact for conference room and video conferencing access for Policy and Research team
Works with the Governor’s Scheduling Team to ensure all memos and briefing materials for the Governor are organized and prepared on time
Maintains and updates relevant contact lists (internal, agency, stakeholders and federal)
Manages the Agency Report Review Process, tracking and organizing reports and ensuring they are reviewed and submitted in a timely manner
Supports Policy and Research office’s workflow, such as fielding and directing inquiries, maintaining the office condition and arranging necessary repairs, sending weekly team emails with important documents, and other miscellaneous tasks
Confirms Policy and Research team are tagged in correct proclamations and reviews proclamations that don’t fit in others portfolios
Assigns bills in Salesforce to Policy and Research team during Legislative Session
Assists the communications, scheduling and legislative team during the Bill Signing Tour; point on memos for talking points for the Governor and travels as advance team to set up bill signings
Assists with research and special projects related to policy initiatives
Supports scheduling with federal delegation
Desired Skills and Competencies:
Successful coordinators have the ability to multitask and function effectively in a complex professional environment. They are detail-oriented analytical thinkers with well-developed decision-making, research, analytical and project management skills. They also have strong written and verbal communication skills, advanced interpersonal skills, the ability to learn quickly, and the ability to influence and persuade to affect solutions to complex problems.
Additional competencies should include the ability to synthesize complex information and research into concise, relevant, logical and organized formats for analysis and discussion as well as the ability to identify and resolve or minimize potential conflicts in goals and objectives, missions and agendas. The ability to work effectively in teams, a good sense of humor, and a positive attitude all are important.
Education/Experience:
Two years professional experience in a related field or an Associate’s degree or higher can be substituted for professional experience on a year to year basis.
Preferred Competencies:
Interest in public policy and legislative affairs.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
A high degree of professionalism and confidentiality
Familiarity with governmental and legislative processes.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Demonstrated adherence to deadlines while adapting to incoming priority changes
