Job Summary: This position exists to provide direct care services and administer medications to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role incorporates medication administration per QMAP regulations.
Duties: Implementation of Individual Program Plan: Administers and documents residential, therapy, medical, and behavior-related objectives as identified in the IPP of persons served. Administers oxygen, over-the-counter treatments, and monitors feeding pumps. Transports (drives) individuals to their day program site, medical appointments, court hearings, and/or community activities. Protects the rights of persons served and enhances their quality of life.
Activities of Daily Living: Performs or assists residents on all activities of daily living (ADL), including meal preparation, personal hygiene, social skills, recreation activities, housekeeping, and laundry, with a training approach.
Redirection and Intervention: De-escalates agitating behaviors by utilizing skills learned to mitigate the situation safely. Performs physical intervention and redirection techniques when needed, utilizing the least restrictive measures available.
Medication Administration: Administers medications and treatments to individuals served in accordance with physician orders. Records information, including medication given, residents' responses to medications and treatments, intake, output, seizures, menses, and all relevant client medical status.
