COLORADO PARKS AND WILDLIFE (CPW) 
Our Mission is to perpetuate the wildlife resources of the state, to provide a quality state parks system, and to provide enjoyable and sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities that educate and inspire current and future generations to serve as active stewards of Colorado's natural resources. Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
REVENUE LEAD $19.00/HOUR: A customer service based position that involves greeting visitors, selling parks passes, answering phones, counting cash receipts, and providing information to the public. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills. Work leader responsibilities over entrance attendants. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
  • Understands and follows Park regulations, policies and procedures
  • Applies excellent customer service, cash handling and supervisory skills
  • Trains and supervises entrance station attendants
  • Maintains entrance station attendants' working files
  • Prepares cash change funds and shift box pass inventories
  • Assist Revenue Manager with cash and pass inventory audits
  • Reconciles attendant time sheets, shift reports and bank deposits
  • Monitors entrance stations for cleanliness, working supplies and brochures
  • Assist with collection of self-service and shower revenue
  • Coordinates Group Picnic process including check-in/check-out
  • Maintains assigned vehicle as needed
  • Keeps visitors and staff informed of events, schedule changes and notices
  • Revenue report data entry
  • Collect revenue, complete shift report and balance shift box at end of each shift.
  • Provide information and assistance to park visitors (distributes maps/ brochures, orients visitors to park amenities, promotes education programs, etc.)
  • May receive and pass along visitor complaints.
  • May assist with special events or programs within the park.
  • Other duties as assigned.
AQUATIC NUISANCE SPECIES (ANS) INSPECTOR $18.00/HOUR: A customer service based position that involves inspecting for invasive Zebra/Quagga Mussels, Milfoil or other plant species on boats and personal watercraft at an inspection point on the park. This is an important position for the protection of natural resources from non-native species that threaten wildlife, drinking water/irrigation and all water related outdoor recreation in the State of Colorado. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills.
  • Staff the park ANS (aquatic nuisance species) inspection station.
  • Conduct physical boat inspections and boater interviews.
  • Provide information and assistance to the boating public (distributes brochures, promotes ANS education, educates about State Park regulations, etc.)
  • Cleaning and light maintenance duties of interior and exterior of ANS inspection areas. Including maintenance of facilities and grounds.
  • Accurate counting and recording of all boat inspections, either written or by phone application software.
  • Training in boat inspection and decontamination procedures will be provided.
  • Conduct physical boat inspections, decontaminations and boater interviews.  
  • May document and report visitor complaints.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to work at the ANS station for an 8 hour shift and take lunch at the station.
 PARK MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN $19.00/HOUR: Responsible for all general park maintenance and cleaning of public facilities including: restrooms, showers, vault toilets, campsites, picnic areas, trails, etc.
  • Operates and performs routine maintenance on State owned vehicles and equipment
  • Assures quality customer service and facility maintenance, repair and cleanliness
  • Provides information and assistance to visitors
  • May assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work and transporting materials and supplies
  • Performs other duties as assigned
VISITOR SERVICES TECHNICIAN $18.00/HOUR: A customer service based position that involves working in a visitor center or gate entrance, greeting visitors, or may be assigned to work in the field in specialized duties as some parks. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills.
  • Staff the park entrance station and/or the visitor center.
  • Provide information and assistance to visitors (distributes maps/brochures, orients visitors to park facilities and amenities, promotes education programs, educates on State Park regulations, etc.)
  • Provide information to the boating and non-boating public.
  • Sell parks passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, firewood and other novelties.
  • May sell gift certificates, search and rescue cards, boat registrations, OHV registrations and snowmobile registrations, fishing and hunting licenses.
  • Operate a cash register.
  • Answering of telephones and transferring/taking messages.
  • Photo-copying and filing.
  • Collects revenue, completes shift report and balances shift box at end of each shift.
  • May prepare campground reservations forms and documents.
  • May document and report visitor complaints.
  • Cleaning and light maintenance duties of interior and exterior of gates, visitor center and/or offices, including litter pick up.
  • May assist with special events or programs within the park.
  • Other duties as assigned
OFFICE ASSISTANT $18.00/HOUR: This position is a customer service position that sells a variety of state park passes, hunting and fishing licenses, and other CPW products. This position handles campground operations and the sale of retail items. This position is a main line of contact for all visitors and responds to telephone inquiries as well as questions regarding hunting, fishing and park use regulations, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) in general.
  • Staff the visitor center.
  • Provide information and assistance to visitors (distributes maps/brochures, orients visitors to park facilities and amenities, promotes education programs, educates on State Park regulations, etc.)
  • Provide information to the boating and non-boating public.
  • Sell parks passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, firewood and other novelties.
  • May sell gift certificates, search and rescue cards, boat registrations, OHV registrations and snowmobile registrations, fishing and hunting licenses.
  • Operate a cash register.
  • Answering of telephones and transferring/taking messages.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATOR $18.00/Hour: A customer service based position that involves facilitating park interpretive and environmental education programs.  Develop and present natural resources/historical related programs to park visitors. Specifically assist the Full Time Ranger overseeing the Interpretation and Education section in duties related to above programs.  Specific Duties may include:
  • Schedule, plan and present Junior Ranger programs
  • Schedule, plan and present school and group programs
  • Schedule, plan and present campfire programs and guided hikes
  • Schedule, plan and present outreach programs
  • Work with individual and group volunteers
  • May train volunteer naturalists
  • Work with other State, Federal and local agency naturalists
  • Market and promote attendance at programs
  • May develop brochures and other written materials
  • May assist with special events or programs within the park
  • Collect, catalog, organize and protect park collections of slides, photographs, etc.
  • May attend training sessions
  • Assist the Park Ranger(s) and other staff with other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have a valid Colorado drivers' license or reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and various shifts.
  • Previous experience handling money and working with the public.
  • Computer experience (Microsoft Word, Excel, Point of Sale) is highly recommended and helpful.
  • May need to undergo criminal background investigation.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, nights, holidays and weekends required
  • Possess strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • May be required to work the entrance station for an 8 hour shift and take lunch
    in the station.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position will perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.  Possibly Standing for 8 hours straight on overly busy days

Duration of Typical Work Week — The number of hours worked is, on average, but not limited to, 40 hours per week. Shifts are generally 8 to 10 hours and days off are generally weekdays. Shifts will include weekends and holidays.

Consequence of Error — Error in this position could result in minor to serious implications if the mistake that was not readily correctable (depending on the situation).

Letters and Memos — Most written communication is handled electronically via email.

Contact With Others — Contact with others occurs daily and should be considered one of the
critical contexts for the position.

Work With Work Group or Team — As explained above, contact with others is critical to the
position and is always working as part of a team.

The park will provide uniform shirts, hats and name tags. Employee will be required
