The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC) is seeking highly motivated and experienced licensed Lead Dentist to join our team at the Cheshire Correctional Institution in Cheshire, CT.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In state facilities this class is accountable for acting as a working supervisor responsible for the clinical dental program as well as for performing dental and oral surgical work.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Coordinates unit workflow; determines priorities; assigns and reviews work; establishes and maintains unit procedures; provides staff training and assistance; conducts or assists in conducting performance evaluations; acts as liaison to other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures; performs dental and oral surgical work as outlined in Dentist class specification; oversees ordering of supplies and equipment and ensures equipment properly maintained; performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of dental surgery with particular reference to oral pathology; interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; skill in dental operative techniques; supervisory ability.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of experience as a dentist.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate will possess:
- Experience in all aspects of general Dentistry;
- Experience in oral surgery including simple and surgical extraction;
- Experience in restorative, prosthodontic, periodontic, endodontic, and oral surgery.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license to practice dentistry in Connecticut.

Incumbents in this class may be required to lift and restrain individuals and may be exposed to disagreeable conditions, communicable and/or infectious diseases and risk of injury from assaultive and/or abusive individuals.
