Position Details: Full-time, 40 hours/week Monday-Friday 7:30AM - 4:00PM Office/On-site Located in Wethersfield, CT The Role: The Vehicle Business Regulation division consists of 7 operational areas: Business to Business Unit, Core Customer Operations, Copy Records, Compliance, Records Update, Support Services and Relationship Management Unit, and Specialized Registry Services.� In addition, the division: Provides a wide range of customer services to the public and support services to other DMV operations. Processes paperwork for the Dealer On-Line Registration Program and is charged with monitoring and assuring the compliance of several functions, and the processing of several transactions related to the compliance function. Oversees marine vessel mailed transactions and is the central repository for all boat registration transactions. Responsible for the documentation of standards relating to the title and registration issuance process. Connecticut is a participant in the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS), ensuring vehicle compliance safety and customer protection, and VBR operates a NMVTIS help desk. Responsible for the approval of vanity and special interest plates, the issuance of parking placards for disabled individuals, and for providing customers with copies of DMV documents.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Department of Motor Vehicles branch offices and units within the central office this class is accountable for acting as a working supervisor for a unit responsible for the issuance of operators' licenses, titles and/or registrations.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Assigns duties and reviews results for accuracy, effectiveness and conformance with policy; Reviews and evaluates courtesy and attitude toward the public and other employees; Studies and analyzes office tasks performed; Oversees and coordinates the daily work involved in the issuance of official motor vehicle documents; Prioritizes, schedules and assigns duties; Maintains proper workflow; Provides on the job training to unit staff; Resolves individual work-related problems; Maintains daily records; Orders supplies; Ensures the accuracy and efficiency of unit work; Completes inventory and production reports; Obtains from and provides information to a variety of personnel within other divisions, departments or the public; Examines and processes applications and supporting documentation; Issues official documents; Operates automated and other office equipment; Performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

Considerable knowledge of the functions and activities of the Department of Motor Vehicles; office systems and procedures; Knowledge of record-keeping; Skills in operating office equipment; interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; in examining documents to determine compliance with established requirements; Ability to lead employees; read, understand and apply motor vehicle laws, regulations, policies and procedures; resolve difficult office situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Five (5) years of clerical experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years of the General Experience must have involved the issuance of official documents requiring the examination of applications and supporting documentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years. Two (2) years of experience as a Motor Vehicle Examiner or one (1) year of experience as a Motor Vehicle Examiner Specialist may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Cater, Connecticut Integrated Vehicle and Licensing System (CIVLS), and Salesforce. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive. Experience managing and meeting deadlines with competing priorities. Experience in handling customer issues. Experience communicating with government, private sector officials, and building consensus through verbal and written communication.
